Oft times I find my heart
searching out another day.
As chaos whirls about me
nothing bidding me to stay.
The news blares out the horrors
of a time in which each day I live.
One I would not have choosen
nor one that I would give.

I find it quite unsettling
within this hour glass of sand.
Caught inside this swirling storm
I struggle just to stand.
My heart rushes to a memory
of a sweeter, kinder time.
A time and place when life was fresh.
And peace seemed easier to find.
Oh, I know it wasn't perfect.
My memory chooses what to see.
In my dreams, if I could choose,
that is the place I'd want to be.

I struggle with the changing times.
And try desperately to cling
to the promised peace and comfort
my loving Savior brings.
For whatever His perfect reason
for giving me this day, this time
I know there is a plan He laid
a path and stairway for me to climb.
Yes, I can take precious moments
from days that in my memory do last.
Buy it's today that I must live
. . . for tomorrow,
today slips into 'the past.'

Don't let it go unnoticed.
Don't let it slip away ...
without making it a memory
you will want to live again one day.

C.S Lewis, one of my favorite Christian writers had something marvelous to say about pretending things are different ....
"When you are not feeling particularly friendly but know you ought to be, the best thing you can do, very often, is to put on a friendly manner and behave as if you were a nicer person than you actually are. And in a few minutes, as we have all noticed, you will be really feeling friendlier than you were."
- from Mere Christianity
The Bible also tells us to hold on ...
"For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world -- our faith."
1 John 5:4
